Less than two decades ago this used to be a living and thriving water body. Pride of the city. Cool breeze , crystal clear waters, fish in huge numbers, lotus stem, fishermen ,boats and bathing children. Well, a place teeming with activity. Then the sad story started. Sewage and trash from the fast growing number of houses, most built illegally on reclaimed land, wreaked havoc. Polythene choked it to death. Here are a few glimpses of the corpse, once a living lake.

Once upon a time this was a place teeming with swimmers. No one dares dip even a finger in these waters now. The fish are gone, the nadru(lotus stem) is poisonous. Stop it for God’s sake. This lake is dead…. and so are you.
